Tech CEO John Woodward has been arrested at New York Airport. He is accused of murdering his roommate’s girlfriend over 30 years ago.
John Woodward, President and CEO of California-based company Readytech, was arrested at New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport last week. The 58-year-old is accused of murdering his roommate’s girlfriend in an explosive love triangle 30 years ago. The New York Post, among others, reported on the case.
Woodward allegedly strangled the then 25-year-old computer engineer Laurie H. with a rope in September 1992. The motive is jealousy. According to prosecutors, Woodward developed feelings for his roommate, who was in a relationship with Laurie H.
The tech CEO was already considered the prime suspect back then. However, due to a lack of evidence, the proceedings were discontinued, reports the “Post”. The investigators found fingerprints on the outside of Laurie H.’s car, where the body was found, but not inside the car.
Almost 30 years later, in 2021, Woodward’s tracks were found in Laurie H.’s car. And, even more explosive: New forensic investigations have also made it possible to secure DNA traces on the murder weapon. They, too, were assigned to Woodward.
Woodward was charged with murder and is currently being held in custody in New York. He is due to be extradited to California, where he faces a life sentence.
