Israeli archaeologists have published a study that described the unprecedented rock paintings. They have been found in dolmens of the bronze age, and their age can reach 4200 years.

As reported by the Times of Israel, the rock engravings were discovered during the examination of four large dolmens in the Golan and Galilee in the North of Israel. Archaeologists call these buildings the tombs of the bronze age, although the remains have not been found.

the Dolmens in Yehudism the reserve is interesting in and of themselves. They are truly giant, and their age is around 4000-4200 years. However, their main feature was broken on the stone figures, many of which have no analogues.

One of these images scientists have named the ancient smiley. It looks like a human face, carved on the outside stone. According to scientists, two pairs of short lines represent the eye, and a long line beneath the mouth. Indeed, this stone may well be mistaken for a huge smiley face.

In their article, the authors make the assumption that this “smiley” is man-made. The location of the lines and shape of the stone, similar to the shape of the human face, indicate that it may be the only kind of ancient work of art.

Scientists have tried to draw Parallels, but nothing came of it – the similar images in the context of dolmens are not found anywhere in the world, although dolmens are quite common. The question remains and for what purpose the ancient artist transformed the stone into a “smiley”? Perhaps it was the unknown iconic symbol.

Another unique rock figure was 4200-year-old image of a herd of animals. It changes the views of archaeologists on the little-known peoples, who created thousands of huge stone dolmens that dot the Golan and Galilee.

In one of the ancient stone burial chambers were discovered six different animals carved on the rock. On the panel are clearly visible animals in various poses, some of them even look at each other.

“This is the first time when we see this type of rock art in the dolmens in the middle East – said the archaeologist for the Israeli antiquities authority, URI Berger. We can say for sure that this is the composition. It meant something to the culture that built this dolmen”.

Not less curious drawings were discovered inside the multi-chamber dolmen, which is probably the biggest in the middle East. They consist of 14 unique, similar to the Trident image.

These engravings carved on the ceiling of the chamber, constructed of massive basalt slabs. They covered a huge plate, the weight of which is estimated at about 50 tons. From the inside and cut the “tridents” of length 25 cm each. Sun they lined up in rows and oriented in the same direction, as if moving from the northeast to the southwest. By the way, these pictures are one of a kind – rock informed “tridents” in the middle East is not found.
