A 38-year-old was driving the wrong way towards Passau and caused a fatal accident.

A wrong-way driver caused an accident with a dead person on the A 94 federal motorway near Winhöring in the Altötting district in Upper Bavaria. The wrong-way driver collided head-on on Sunday evening with a vehicle whose 34-year-old driver died at the scene of the accident, according to the Bavarian police. The passenger of the fatality was seriously injured.

Two other vehicles were involved in the accident, with another person suffering minor injuries. The 38-year-old wrong-way driver was taken to hospital by rescue helicopter with life-threatening injuries. The freeway was closed for several hours. The person who caused the accident drove his car onto the A 94 at the Altötting junction for reasons that are not yet known. According to the police, he was driving the wrong way towards Passau on the Munich lane.
