Melanie Müller made a name for herself in 2022 with a Nazi scandal, Michael Wendler’s missteps can hardly be counted on one hand: some scandalous celebrities have already taken part in the RTL jungle camp. At the beginning of the new season we take a look into the past.

Viewers want to see disgusting tests, drama and love affairs from Friday (January 13), when RTL says “I’m a star – get me out of here”. Twelve more or less well-known candidates then face the tough tests in the Australian jungle. It’s already the 16th season of the format – reason enough to take a look at the six biggest scandal participants.

There is, for example, the king of the jungle from 2013, Joey Heindle (29), who probably did not always behave in a completely compliant manner. He got into a legal battle with a beverage company a few years ago. She claimed the star used drugs while filming a commercial in Thailand, paid with counterfeit money and partied at the hotel at company expense. Joey Heindle always rejected this.

Ex-“Bachelor” candidate Melanie Müller (34) was named jungle queen after Joey Heindle. In the camp, she caused a sensation with her past as a porn actress. In 2022 the Nazi scandal broke out. Very questionable videos of the Ballermann singer have surfaced, suggesting that she is in close contact with the neo-Nazi scene. The police then stormed her home at 5 a.m.

There would also be Carsten Spengemann (50). A Cartier ring brought him unpleasant headlines in 2003. A woman sued the moderator at the time because he allegedly embezzled the piece of jewelry after a night of love together. In addition, Carsten Spengemann repeatedly made a name for himself with his CV. According to “Spiegel”, the moderator is said to have fibbed a little. Instead of an internship – as stated in the CV – Carsten Spengemann probably only completed a two-week internship at the Hamburg city broadcaster “Alsterradio”. In addition, the 50-year-old repeatedly claimed that he was the grandson of the legendary Hamburg actor Hans Albers († 68), but there was never concrete evidence of this.

Pop singer Michael Wendler (50) also took part in the jungle camp in 2014. But he couldn’t stand it for long, after only four days he left the format voluntarily. He finally became a celebrity phenomenon when Laura Müller (22), who was almost 30 years his junior, from Tangermünde on the Elbe, came into his life. A public fling followed, videos from their adopted home of Florida, a “Playboy” shoot (for Laura) and a civil wedding. Well, and then the bang.

In autumn 2020, Wendler commented on corona politics in Germany in an irritating video. The broadcaster RTL, which hired him as a juror for the talent show “Deutschland sucht den Superstar”, then called him a conspiracy theorist and immediately distanced himself from him. What Michael Wendler has been doing in his adopted country, the USA, since then – a little unclear.

Footballer Aílton (49) took part in the jungle camp in 2012. Nine years earlier, he made the headlines for hitting his then-girlfriend Rosalie out of anger at his club’s defeat. His partner then filed a complaint for assault. The footballer later showed remorse and donated to an association that works to help abused girls and women.

For Micaela Schäfer (39), scandal is the core business. Through her nude performances, she created a brand. Her bare-breasted appearance in a church for a music video or the striptease she performed at a prom caused a major scandal.
