While the film Anatomy of a Fall in which he plays the husband of the main character has just won two awards at the Golden Globes ceremony on Sunday, French actor Samuel Theis is splashed by accusations of rape.

According to two investigations published last week in the French media Libération and Télérama, the man who is also a director allegedly abused a technician on the set of his feature film Je le jure, last summer.

The man who filed the complaint “was in a daze, unable to express his consent or his refusal of consent” at the time of the events, indicates Télérama. The incident allegedly occurred on the night of June 30 to July 1, 2023, during an evening between members of the film crew.

Subsequently, the alleged victim would not have been able to continue her work and would have been released from her duties with compensation, reports Libération. A strict protocol would then have been established on the set. According to Libération, director Samuel Theis was “confined”. He could not go onto the set without first warning the members so that those who did not wish to see him could leave the premises.

The filmmaker disputed the accusations. His lawyer told Libération “that he has no information on a complaint filed or a procedure in progress”.
