Those who howl at the moon out of spite at every attempt to book Omega Park’s highly prized “Wolf Lodgings” would be well advised to prick up their ears: 13 new units will soon be offered in this natural area near Montebello, in addition to the 8 mini-chalets (“pods”) inaugurated earlier this year.

Anyone who has tried to set foot on a night in the park’s famous chalets allowing to observe and rub shoulders with wolves knows what to expect: accommodations are limited and the wait is felt. To meet the increasingly dense demand from the public, the organization will inaugurate a dozen new accommodations from September 29. Reservations will open next week—the exact day hasn’t been determined at the time of this writing, so keep an eye out for park announcements.

Dubbed the “Wolves and Bears Suites”, these accommodations will allow guests to peer through floor-to-ceiling windows and from balconies at young wolves and bears cohabiting in the same area. “It’s the same principle as our Sleep with Wolves accommodation, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the animals’ habitat. This was a big request, our wolf accommodations were full for the year,” says Billie-Prisca Giroux, Omega Park Communications Manager.

According to the organization, this new formula involving bears and wolves is a first in North America. The accommodations will also be revamped with a design that differs from that of the chalets already on site. “The style is completely different, a bit more modern, not like traditional log buildings. There will be two dwellings per building, located in another sector of the park, ”announces Ms. Giroux.

Each unit will accommodate up to four people. As for the prices, they will revolve around those already in effect for existing immersive homes, namely between $679 and $939, depending on the season and the day of the week – peak summer being the peak period. . Like a wolf stalking its prey, it will be necessary to remain on the lookout for the opening of reservations next week, because these are likely to be taken by storm.

Still with a view to receiving more overnight visitors, the park also inaugurated last March eight new miniature chalets, more affordable “pods”, in a slightly out of the way area. Two units had been set up in 2022 and, given their success, a small village was created, totaling 10 accommodations open all year round. Before you jump to the reservations page, be aware that they don’t overlook the wolf area; on the other hand, the hosts have a right of access to a private bridge of observation of the wolves and the bears located further, if they wish to contemplate them.

“A bear cub was born this spring in the accommodation sector,” says Billie-Prisca Giroux. In the pod sector, you come across wild fallow deer, so people can see them from their gallery. »

These small dwellings include a closed bedroom on the ground floor that can accommodate two adults, as well as a mezzanine with a double bed for two children if necessary. In addition, a kitchenette, mini-fridge, microwave, dishes, shower and toilet are offered. Rates vary between $139 and $319, again depending on the time of year and week.
