In an effort to prevent unauthorized use of your CPF by third parties, the Brazilian Federal Revenue Service has launched the “CPF Protection” tool. This national and free tool aims to prevent your CPF from being included in the corporate structure of companies and other entities.
The Federal Revenue Service expects that this tool will protect over 155 million Brazilians from potential scams and frauds. To avoid falling victim to CPF-related scams, here are six tips to keep in mind:
1. Do not share personal data on social media platforms.
2. Be wary of emails promising unbeatable opportunities.
3. When making online purchases, verify the website’s legitimacy, privacy policy, and check for any complaints against the company.
4. Avoid sharing your CPF number with strangers or entering it on promotional websites or giveaways.
5. When disposing of cards, letters, or documents, make sure to shred or scratch out personal information.
6. Keep your documents secure and close by at all times.
