Corte Moschina is in the village of Ronca, between Verona and Vicenza, in Veneto. The garganega vines are grown in the hills around the village, in terroirs of volcanic origin, at the foot of the Lessini mountains and the Pre-Alps. Vinified entirely in stainless steel vats, the Roncathe 2022 cuvée offers a fine, restrained nose, with notes of pear, almond, a hint of white flowers and cream. The mouth is round, with a nice creamy texture, but also a lot of freshness. Its dapper character is enhanced by delicate bitters that bring just the right amount of relief. Simple, but tasty and very well done and, above all, a fair expression of soave. Perfect for a risotto with green vegetables or seafood, or pasta primavera.

The Wachau region is one of the most distinctive in Austria, with steep, narrow vineyards clinging to the slopes that plunge into the Danube. Old stone walls have been maintained for centuries to prevent erosion. The Terrassen range blends grapes from different vineyards. And the mention federspiel, specific to the Wachau, designates a level of maturity – a bit like the German kabinett and spätlese. The wine is also fine, very dry, but completely different: here, acidity dominates! Ripe fruit with accents of pear, mirabelle plum and citrus underpins everything, with a mineral impression and spicy notes, but the tension defines the mouth. It wakes up the taste buds! Simple, very well made and a beautiful expression of the region, it will stand up to a ceviche, and will do justice to grilled or fried fish.

A Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is nothing new, you will tell me. But fields like that of Francesco Cirelli, there are few. On 22 hectares, he has created a true haven of biodiversity and polyculture, 8 km from the sea, where, in addition to vines, he cultivates old olive trees, almond trees, fig trees, legumes and grain. His Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 2021 is simply delicious. The nose is aromatic, enhanced by a touch of volatile acidity which gives shine to a string of ripe fruits. Notes of spices, anise, herbs add interest. The palate is rich and fruity, but nimble and drinkable, with lots of vitality. Light tannins, with grip, bring chewiness. Served slightly chilled, it will be perfect for grilled meats, spicy sausages, couscous with merguez. Note: if the wine is no longer sold online on May 27, it will be distributed in stores starting May 29.
