The period of stay of the President in office should be reduced to five years. About this on air of “echo of Moscow” stated the leader of LDPR Vladimir Zhirinovsky.

Rambler wrote that earlier in Russia, the presidential term was four years. However, later it was increased to six years.

“We propose to have a single term. One term in all constitutions of the world. To deny a second term! Everywhere parliamentary Republic, and the President has only representative functions. The vote only for party lists,” said Zhirinovsky.

The politician urged to reduce the presidential term in Russia to 5 years, and also cited the example of Belarus, where now “agony” after 26 years in power of Alexander Lukashenko.
