According to the diplomat, “it is a question not specifically for this document or any claims to the Russian side. It is a question of systematic withdrawal of the United States of America from all understandings that are somehow, according to them, tie their hands”.
In this regard, Zakharov reminded that previously the US left unilaterally, the ABM Treaty, the Treaty on the elimination of intermediate and shorter-range missiles (INF Treaty), and recently stated that they do not intend to ratify the Treaty on comprehensive ban of nuclear tests.
Zakharov also noted that the US withdrawal from the DON – not the issue of relations with Moscow. “We have a special Commission, which should decide all disputed issues. Therefore, it is not a question of relations with Russia, it is a question that they throw off all obligations that feel uncomfortable”, she said. It is, in her words, that the United States consider itself as a country with special power and do not tend to follow the rules.
