The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, responded to the words of the adviser to the Kiev delegation in the trilateral contact group and the adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Alexey Arestovich. Earlier, he said that Ukraine had got off the “hook” of the Minsk agreements on the settlement of the conflict in the Donbas, calling it a breakthrough achievement.

Zakharova compared this statement with the thoughts of a fish in a frying pan. “This is what I successfully got off the hook, broke through, a huge achievement,” the fish thought, sitting comfortably in a frying pan, and mentally sent greetings to the fishermen, ” Zakharova wrote in her Telegram channel.

The day before, the head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, Leonid Slutsky, reacted to this statement from Kiev, calling him incompetent. Slutsky reminded Arestovich that there is no alternative to the Minsk agreements, Kiev is actually delaying their implementation. In fact, it is “on the hook” of Western countries. “Arestovich’s match is clearly lame,” Slutsky noted. “And this is doubly sad, given his direct attitude to the Ukrainian delegation in the contact group.”

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said earlier that the Ukrainian authorities, instead of implementing the Minsk agreements, are engaged in”verbal balancing acts”. According to him, such behavior of Kiev demonstrates its intention to artificially maintain and increase anti-Russian rhetoric in order for the West to continue to support it.
