the curriculum of the senior students have added a new discipline – “Current issues COVID-2019”. The volume – 36 hours. The entry on practical work with coronavirus infection was voluntary. Working conditions include the employment contract, payment of accommodation, food and travel.

was there a bounce from this practice? Was. But most future physicians decided to test himself in serious work. Is there a risk? Yes, there is. But no doctor is immune from risks, even in peacetime.

Timur Fokin is a fifth year student in the PIM. After graduation plans to work as a therapist in the clinic, and then to study in residency at the endocrinologist. For the past two weeks he, along with four classmates working in the house-boarding school for aged and invalids “Green city”.

– We conduct physical examinations, measure temperature, pressure, saturation, bring the medicine to the prescription of the doctor doing the injections. Can theoretically provide emergency assistance. But, fortunately, while none of the patients it is not required, – says Timur.

the Students work with those who already had coronavirus infection: tests showed a negative result, but patients are still being carefully monitored. Each week the interns themselves pass the test of COVID-19. Say, doubt, to accept work, there was none.

– once started the entire history of the epidemic, my friends and I immediately began to think how to help. First worked as a volunteer on the hot line. But when the University offered the job, responded immediately. Parents initially experienced, of course. But the last word was for us, – says Timur.

When the expires the first two weeks of the employment contract, the guys plan to stay and work further. Upon returning home they will spend two weeks in isolation.

– the medical Profession involves a certain degree of risk and self-denial. The epidemic has become a kind of challenge to our future professionalism, and we accepted it, – says Timur.

But a fifth-year student Fyodor Kondratyev just getting ready to start practice at Bor hospital where are treated the patients with coronavirus. He says he didn’t hear some of the students were forced to accept work in the “red zone” – all are on their own.

With my course I plan to work three. Know several with the flow. Go out once a month, – says Fedor.

for housing for the interns has prepared hotel rooms. To drive to work will be a special bus. All free. Work schedule: after three days. Fedor says that being employed as a nurse, but first it is necessary to work as a nurse, to understand what was happening.

– I’m not afraid of working in the “red zone”. Although this is my first hands-on experience with peciently, – says Fedor.

Ahead of the month of this work, which also will be credited by the University as practical training.

Nikolai Karyakin, rector of the PIM, doctor of medical Sciences, neurosurgeon:

I have repeatedly operated on and was the attending physician in patients with HIV, hepatitis b and C, other infectious diseases, provided medical aid to patients with severe aggression in connection with damage to the frontal lobes of the brain. The medical profession, unfortunately, involves high personal risk. Today is the time requires our participation in the fight against COVID-2019. No one except us will not perform. But go to the advanced medical needs only volunteers.
