For a few days there has been a huge uproar about the party hit “Layla”. After a sexism debate, producer of the song and pop singer Ikke Hipgold now emphasizes that there will be a children’s version.

The party song “Layla” by DJ Robin and Ikke Hipgold has been a mega hit for weeks. But because the lyrics are too sexist, the first organizers of folk festivals ban them. The trigger for this was the organizer of the Kiliani folk festival in Würzburg. A few days later, the Düsseldorf Rheinkirmes also imposed a “Layla” ban.

In a conversation with “RTL”, Ikke now reveals that the song should have an adult version. “We realize that there must be another version of the song. We know that even young children hear ‘Layla’. That’s why there has to be a children’s version as well.”

The pop singer even gives a first glimpse of the children’s version of the party hit: “I’ve got a woof .. and the dog mom’s name is Layla.” But Ikke also emphasizes very clearly: “The original song will continue to exist. We’re definitely not rewriting it! That would be fatal.”
