The Soviet Union is innocent of the outbreak of the Second world war. As reported TASS, said Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Last night, as reported by the “Rambler” on TV channel “Russia” was shown a film journalist Andrei Kondrashov “War for memory” about the great Patriotic war. It included an interview with Putin. During it the head of state said that the Soviet Union is innocent of the outbreak of the Second world war.

“we do Not have and can be no guilt,” he said.

According to the President, attempts to rewrite history cannot be justified, as 27 million Soviet citizens died for the sake of victory over Nazism.

The day before yesterday the head of the Ukrainian Institute of national memory, coordinated by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, Anton Drabovich said that the “cult of victory” should not be the most important lesson of the Second world war.

Yesterday, the presidents of Latvia Egils Levits, Lithuanian Gitanas Nausea and Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid issued a joint statement in which they accused the Soviet Union of occupation and annexation after the Second world war.
