Belarus will always cooperate with Russia, said the President of the Republic Alexander Lukashenko. On Sunday, 9 August, informs “Interfax”.

“Russia will always cooperate, always be together” — promised the head of state during a meeting with journalists in Minsk.

He said that Russian leader Vladimir Putin during telephone conversation has told to it: “We’re in the same boat.”

Lukashenko added that he had no problem with the question of where to make the first visit after the presidential election. “We don’t have anything to show. We will cooperate with everyone,” he said.

August 9, Belarus held presidential elections. Lukashenka is running for a sixth term. The main opposition candidate is Svetlana Tikhanovski — wife of the arrested blogger Sergei Tikhanovski. It was supported by the headquarters of the former head of Belgazprombank Victor Babariko and founder of high-tech Park Valery Tsepkalo, who was not admitted to the elections. Babariko is in jail, Tsepkalo left the country for fear of persecution.
