“the CEC had no information about the foreign citizenship of the requested persons at the time of election of deputies of the seventh convocation. In this regard, the verification will be continued, – said Vyacheslav Volodin. – Such requests will be sent to the competent authorities. The presence of foreign citizenship of deputies and officials is unacceptable, the Constitution and the law. If the information is confirmed in respect of these deputies will take appropriate legislative measures”.

the Head of the lower house mandated the Committee for security and countering corruption to continue checking and to send requests to the competent authorities of the Russian Federation – Ministry of foreign Affairs, the interior Ministry, the FSB and SVR.

Note that the citizen of the Russian Federation who have foreign citizenship or residence permit or other document confirming the right to permanent residence in the territory of a foreign state, cannot be a parliamentarian. It is established in the Constitution and in the law on status of deputies and senators. Parliamentarians are also prohibited to open and have accounts (deposits), store cash and values in foreign banks located outside Russia.
