Opinions on the Europa League final. Eintracht Frankfurt wins its first European Cup in 42 years. Coach Oliver Glasner, captain Sebastian Rode, goalkeeper Kevin Trapp and everyone else become football heroes, President Peter Fischer weeps with happiness. The Eintracht reactions.

Eintracht Frankfurt is Europa League winner! The Hessians beat Glasgow Rangers 5-4 on penalties in the highly dramatic final in Seville. It is the first German triumph in this competition since Schalke in 1997 and Frankfurt’s first European Cup in 42 years. Frankfurt voices on RTL.

Oliver Glasner (coach): “I don’t have the words, I don’t often lack them. The free-kick in the last minute was an emotional wave, but it was worth it. Now a few days will be celebrated.”

Peter Fischer (President): “The tears are running, that was a damn close game. There’s no words, it’s just too much. If someone tells you, on August 10th you will play against Liverpool or Real Madrid… Respect for the opponent too, respect for these men. All we can do today is rejoice, celebrate, bring this damn trophy to Frankfurt. We want to bring this miserable bitch to the Romans! I’m gonna drink from this pot tonight. Normally you could drink apple wine outside, but we don’t have that here. Beer always works, but someone from Uefa told me vodka works too.”

Sebastian Rode (captain): “Incredible, we just deserve it!”

Rode on his early head injury: “I immediately thought of Schweini 2014, that was a good omen!”

Kevin Trapp to reporter Thomas Wagner: “Look at that! Look at that. There is not one hero, all of us!”

Trapp on Ramsey’s penalty: “I relied on my instincts.”

Timothy Chandler: “What we have achieved is unbelievable! It’s just party time! We’ve won everything from relegation to the Europa League. Thanks to the fans, thanks to Frankfurt, thanks to RTL. Thanks to all! Now we celebrate!”

Martin Hinteregger: “The fact that we win on penalties fits the story. I can’t believe what was delivered. The journey now continues into the Champions League. We celebrate until the last fan goes home.”

Ansgar Knauff: “I almost had a heart attack on penalties, I’m just happy now. We knew Trappo was holding one.”
