MOSCOW, 30 Jul – RIA Novosti. Washington plans to allocate $ 49 million for the design of military facilities in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, reports RT with reference to the application of the Engineering corps of the US army in Europe.

the Funds should go to design for future construction, renovation or restoration of objects such as “airports, Railways, fuel storage and warehouse of fuels and lubricants (POL), munitions and explosives, military barracks, housing units for one or many families, engineering structures, medical units, administrative buildings, workshops, maintenance and repair of mobile equipment, the facilities operation and training complexes, an operational/intelligence centers, military training areas and other facilities of the Armed forces of the United States”.

Also allocated funds can go to the contractor carrying out additional maintenance work, e.g., preparation of environmental documentation, obtaining various permits, conducting geological surveys and topographical maps.

For the implementation of works it is planned to sign at least three contracts, and candidates for contractors can only be an American firm or joint venture of the host country with the participation of the United States. To determine the contractor is planned for September.

Services for architectural and engineering works are acquired to support current and future mission of the corps of the Land forces of the USA in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia in the framework of the European initiative of deterrence.

European initiative deterrence involves placing in the European countries bordering Russia, several thousand NATO troops with equipment and equipment. The Alliance calls it a response to “aggressive actions” of Russia.
