Ukrainian police have detained one of the leaders of the "people’s Council of the Luhansk region" because of the suspicion in infringement of territorial integrity of Ukraine, reads the website of the office of the attorney General.

The name of the detainee is not disclosed. According to the investigation, in may 2014, the defendant initiated and held a Congress of chairmen of district and city councils of area. In it, he gave Valery Bolotov powers of the people’s Governor of Luhansk region. He later referred to that "the people’s Governor" and asked to hold a referendum by definition of the Charter of the Luhansk region. All this was done, according to the Ukrainian side, to separate the territory of the Luhansk region of Ukraine and creation of the self-proclaimed LNR.

Also in the office of the attorney General noted that a detainee may receive up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property or without such act.

Ukrainian media write that we are talking about the former head of the Department of transport of the Lugansk city Council Andrey Andreev.
