Ukrainian banks do not have enough cash due to excessive demand

the national Bank of Ukraine (NBU) notes the signs of a lack of currency in the Ukrainian banks due to increased demand from the population.

“In recent days we have seen signs of the shortage of currency in banks. This is due to the increasing demand of the population for cash currency”, — said the NBU.

the Termination of air communication with other countries and the imposition of restrictions on the border has led to the fact that the cash dollars and euros delivered to Ukraine with a delay.

According to the NBU, Ukrainian banks have correspondent accounts with $8 billion of non-cash currency, and customers can transfer foreign currency to accounts in other banks, and also to convert currency. However, the withdrawal of cash currency more difficult.
