NUR-SULTAN, 1 may – RIA Novosti. Kazakhstan in its foreign policy attaches high priority to the strategic partnership and allied relations with Russia, said President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev.

“multi-vector, balance, constructivism – that the fundamental principles of our foreign policy. And this foreign policy, in my opinion, best suits the geopolitical status of our country. Its geographical location in the end. But in this the foreign policy we pay particular attention to the strategic partnership and allied relations with Russia. For us it is a matter of principle”, – said Tokayev in an interview to the Interstate television and radio company “Mir”.

According to Tokayev, Kazakhstan seeks to “act as a link between East and West in political and civilizational dimensions.”

“Kazakhstan is an active member of several prestigious Eurasian structures, including the Shanghai cooperation organization, OSCE and the conference on interaction and confidence building measures in Asia. Every three years in Kazakhstan, congresses of leaders of world and traditional religions. We reasonably position ourselves as a transit trade bridge between Europe and Asia. Kazakhstan has always sought to become an important link within the transport and communication projects between the two continents”, – said Tokayev.
