Manchester United’s squad is in full swing. Now the new coach Erik ten Hag would like to bring an old acquaintance to England.

Old acquaintances: According to a report in the Daily Mail, Manchester United would like to sign Dutch international Frenkie de Jong. The 25-year-old midfielder knows Erik ten Hag from his time at Ajax Amsterdam. The new coach is said to be “putting a lot” on De Jong’s signing.

Ultimatum: The midfielder is currently under contract with FC Barcelona. However, the Red Devils have now given De Jong an ultimatum as they could not wait any longer for an answer, reports Sport.es. According to Spanish media, Barcelona would be ready to let De Jong go if they sign Robert Lewandowski or Bernardo Silva be able.

Future? Ahead of FC Barcelona’s last game of the season, his coach Xavi says of De Jong: “He’s a great footballer. I told him that he makes the difference. I really like Frenkie: he is very capable, a player who dominates the game. He can help us, but we’ll see how the situation is.”
