The candidate in presidents of Belarus Svetlana Tikhanovski explained the reason why I decided to participate in the elections. She told about it in interview to Agency Reuters.
“I went to the polls, not because I need the power or because I am a politician and want to be President. I went to support her husband, support family values,” she said.
Tikhanovski stressed that politics is absolutely not her. According to the candidate, she fears persecution for a long time and was afraid of public speaking.
Svetlana Tikhanovski — wife of the arrested blogger Sergei Tikhanovski, who planned to run for President. It was supported by the headquarters of the former head of Belgazprombank Victor Babariko and founder of high-tech Park Valery Tsepkalo, which did not register candidates. Babariko is in jail on suspicion of forming a criminal group to bring hundreds of millions of dollars abroad. Tsepkalo fled from persecution in Russia.
