The President of Russia Vladimir Putin on the phone in conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart Vladimir Zelensky has described the decision of the Verkhovna Rada on local elections in 2020 as contrary to the Minsk agreements. About it on July 26, the press service of the Kremlin.

Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a resolution according to which the elections in the Donbass possible only after the transmission line under the control of Kiev.

“Vladimir Putin has described the adopted on 15 July, the Verkhovna Rada resolution on holding the local elections in 2020 as contrary to the Minsk agreements and jeopardizing prospects for settlement”, — stated in the message.

It is also noted that the Russian side expressed serious concern over the recent statements of senior officials of Ukraine on the inadmissibility of certain provisions of the “package of measures” and the need for its revision.

The press service of the Ukrainian President’s Office said that Putin and Zelensky addressed the issue of mine clearing of territories in the Donbas and the opening of new checkpoints on the demarcation line.

It is also indicated that in conversation with Russian counterpart Zelensky said about the need to take further steps to release detained persons and access to the red cross.
