– the Red Cross I have been working for eight years. Help people – our normal activities. Therefore, when the pandemic coronavirus, we are organically joined to the project #Myvote. First, like other volunteers, were transported to pensioners in isolation products and medicines. On foot, in cars and even on Segways – they gave us the owner of the network sharing scooters.

a Couple of weeks ago, we began to deliver food to families in quarantine at COVID-19. This is a group of volunteers who have undergone special training. Prior to pass purchase, they wear personal protective equipment: suit, covering the whole body from head to toe, shower cap, Shoe cover, two layers of gloves, respirator, face shield. Well, and a lot of disinfectant, of course. These volunteers take out the trash: pack waste is treated with disinfectant, placed in two net bag and lowered into a deep trash can. Cars volunteers must undergo disinfection. Such applications yet, but if necessary we are ready to increase the number of volunteers working with COVID-pin St. Petersburg, and close to fifty applications per day.

From may 22 we had a new direction – we were working as volunteers in the hospital Fairgrounds. The main goal is to provide moral support to the patients, primarily the elderly and disabled. Talk to them, listen, hear, send requests and suggestions to management. All twenty of the volunteers before coming to the hospital, were trained on psychosocial support.

Perform everyday tasks – change diapers, to turn the bed, adjust the bed to bring food, to feed, to deliver the patient to the desired office. Medical students are allowed to simple medical procedures: measure the temperature or pressure, to help to set up a drip. Those who do not have medical training, perform other tasks, they are more than enough.

Indeed, among the volunteers working at the Fairgrounds, a lot of people unrelated to medicine. This is normal. There is, for example, railroad, taxi driver. I myself education Navigator of the Navy and pastry chef. This does not prevent me from working in a Red Cross trainer of first aid.

do we Feel its necessity? Oh yeah! Affairs very much. Patients quickly understand who are the volunteers, and now come to us for any reason. And we can do a lot, not only to talk and moral support. For example, free to deliver healthy person on our transport home from the hospital. One grandmother told us that for a long time can not find relatives from Ukraine. We will try to help – the Red Cross is service of search of people… came Up to create an internal hat WhatsApp for patients and doctors Fairgrounds. It will send out the information you need. It could be things like “lunch began,” and stories about doctors who hide behind masks. The patients are psychologically difficult to be surrounded by faceless, frightening “men in white”… Looking for the possibility of granting newly arrived patients hygiene kits – in the first days of hospitalization is necessary… to Discuss how to organize the work of small hospital libraries… Every day we begin with an orientation and discussion of objectives, and believe me, every time there are new topics.

by the Way, in order to be distinguished from the physicians (in protective suits and masks all employees of the hospital are the same), volunteers with the two sides glued themselves to the red tape.

If need be, we are ready to increase to the Fairgrounds a number of volunteers and expand their functionality. Going to work and after the threat of coronavirus retreat, and the hospital closes. Then we will be able to provide psychological support to medical staff. They’re very tired and burn out on the job.

I Must say I was pleasantly surprised at how built work in Lenexpo. We have all seen in the American disaster movie show the temporary hospitals that are deployed on the basis of stadiums with thousands of beds, all the moaning, the doctors rush, the chaos and the horror… Here, clean, neat, clear, have all the facilities, medical staff and volunteers enough. Yesterday one patient even complained that too much attention to him for the day came about twenty times, he was tired. Almost sounds like an advertisement.

Way

Today, may 26, Denis Moiseyev’s birthday. Volunteer his notes in the operation mode on shift in the hospital Fairgrounds.
