The U.S. is considering new restrictions on exports to China

the administration of the President of the United States Donald trump is considering the introduction of new restrictions on the export of advanced technologies in China, reports Bloomberg, citing four sources familiar with the situation.

it is Expected that by the end of this month officials will decide whether to block exports to China, aircraft engine Leap 1C, produced by a joint venture of General Electric Co. and the French Safran. The engines are used in aircraft C919, which was developed by the Commercial Aircraft Corp of China (COMAC) and is now undergoing flight tests.

Discussion of this issue related to concerns that China may use the GE/Safran Leap-1C, to accelerate the development of own programmes of jet engines.

According to sources Bloomberg, the administration trump also considers extending a ban on doing business with China’s Huawei Technologies Co. on any of chip manufacturers, including foreign ones, which used American equipment for semiconductor manufacturing.

In may 2019, the Ministry of Commerce decided to make Huawei and associated companies in black list, limiting their ability to purchase services and components from American firms.

last week, the U.S. government has accused Huawei of stealing trade secrets and assistance to Iran in the surveillance of protesters.

Some members of the administration trump insist on the intensification of efforts to limit technological growth of China, citing potential threats to U.S. national security. The proposed measures will be discussed in the administration, and will ultimately require the approval of the President.
