The members of the Federation Council intend to recommend to the Russian government to restrict the sale of alcohol for citizens under the age of 21, reports RIA Novosti, citing a statement by the Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on social policy Valery Ryazan.

Currently in Russia there is a limit to the Russians under the age of 18.

The Senator stressed that the members of the Federation Council are preparing proposals in the draft resolution, which will be formed after the “government hour”, scheduled for 20 may with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Golikova.

Earlier, as reported by “Rambler”, an initiative to increase the age threshold for the purchase of alcoholic beverages was made by the Minister of health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko. The Minister made a statement on the disappointing statistics, which says the increase in deaths from alcohol use in conditions of isolation. Murashko said that the idea of introduction of restrictions arose “not today”, but now drastic measures have become increasingly important.
