The Russian foreign Ministry announced a possible US withdrawal from the Treaty on open skies

MOSCOW, April 21/ Radio Sputnik. The Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the US probably has already taken the decision to withdraw from the Treaty on open skies.

the diplomat said during a roundtable with participants of the Fund for public diplomacy support named after Alexander Gorchakov.

“Experts that monitor the situation (surrounding the Treaty – approx. ed.), I believe that in Washington, the decision has already been made (on the exit – approx. ed.). We believe that in these estimates there is significant truth to it. We are the same conclusions about do, based on our contacts with the Americans and other NATO members, and other parties to the Treaty on open skies,” said Lavrov, his words leads RIA Novosti.

the Treaty on open skies was signed in 1992 and became one of the measures for strengthening confidence in Europe after the cold war. It has been operating since 2002 and allows the participating countries to openly gather information about military forces and activities of each other. Parties to the Treaty are 34 States.

Earlier radio Sputnik said the dialogue on guns only possible on equal terms.
