One of opponents of Alexander Lukashenko at presidential elections in Belarus Valery Tsepkalo evaluated the influence of Russia and the United States on the legitimacy of the election. He told about it on air of TV channel owned by Grigory Berezkin RBC.

He expressed the hope that Moscow will advocate that the laws in the Union state are respected. The politician said that Russia could play a more important role in ensuring the legality of the elections in Belarus than the United States or the European Union.

Tsepkalo added that small States are very dependent on the opinions of others about them States, and the investment climate directly and highly dependent on reputation.

“we Must show visibility of at least legal action for its citizens,” he said.

On June 24 the former head of the Belarusian high-tech Park Valery Tsepkalo filed documents for registration as candidate to the CEC. He gathered about 220 thousand signatures to the electoral Commission he took 160 thousand, while passing at least amounted to 100 thousand. The President stressed that full confidence in the legality of all collected documents and does not see any reason why he may deny the CEC. On 29 June it became known that the Belarusian interior Ministry has initiated preliminary examination in respect of Tsepkalo after the application of a Turkish citizen about the “illegal activities” of the party in the presidential race.

Election of the President of Belarus will be held on 9 August. At the moment the country ended the collection of signatures, the validation phase will continue until July 14.
