American actor Elijah Wood, known for the role of Frodo Baggins in the fantasy trilogy “The Lord of the Rings”, said that the image of one of the orcs in the movie was based on the image of the scandalous Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein. The artist recalled this during the Armchair expert podcast.

“One of the orc masks — and I remember it well — was designed to look like Harvey Weinstein in order to say “fuck you,”” Wood said, explaining that, in his opinion, it is now possible to talk openly about it, given that Weinstein is currently in prison. “Fuck him,” the 40-year-old actor added.

It is noted that initially Weinstein’s company Miramax owned the rights to film the works of British author John Ronald Reuel Tolkien. However, director Peter Jackson could not agree with the studio on the budget and the number of films in the saga.

Then Miramax offered the New Zealand cinematographer to contact other studios and implement a project of three films there. Jackson was given one weekend to conclude the deal, hoping that he would not have time to formalize the agreement. However, the director signed a contract with New Line Cinema.

Eventually, the studio released films that earned billions of dollars at the box office. Thus, Weinstein earned millions, but did not gain popularity in the team working on the fantasy trilogy.
