MOSCOW, 15 April/ Radio Sputnik. The Russian Embassy in the U.S. will test the involvement of the American company Squire Patton Boggs for the demolition of the monument to Marshal Ivan Konev in Prague, said URA.ru with reference to the Russian Ambassador Anatoly Antonov.
According to him, Squire Patton Boggs has prepared a report to justify the need for the demolition of the monument to the Soviet commander.
the Ambassador also pointed out that the United States had to condemn the actions of the Prague authorities, and even to prevent the demolition of the monument. He recalled that Marshal Konev was awarded the “Legion of honor” degree commander of the United States, but Washington has forgotten about it, and ascribes the merit of the liberation of Auschwitz and the Polish of his army.
the Monument to the legendary Soviet military leader appeared in Prague on the initiative of the city authorities in the late 1970’s-early 1980-ies. The monument was erected by the local inhabitants in gratitude for the fact that the commander has preserved buildings of the Czech capital, and ordered not to use heavy artillery during the assault on the city during its liberation from the Nazis in may 1945.

In the Main investigation Department of the Investigative Committee (SK) Russia on April 10 opened a criminal case under part 3 of article 354.1 of the criminal code (desecration of symbols of Russia’s military glory, committed publicly).
Official representative of IC Svetlana Petrenko said that the investigators intend to prosecute participants of the demolition of the monument.
on the Eve of the Sputnik radio reported that the assistant to the President of Russia Vladimir Medinsky intends to transfer to the Supervisory authority the list of persons potentially involved in the demolition of the monument.
