G7 foreign Ministers expressed serious concern about China’s draft law on the protection of national security of Hong Kong, accused Beijing of violating the obligations, and urged it to reconsider its decision, said in a joint statement of foreign Ministers, statement on Wednesday, the U.S. state Department.

"We, the Ministers of foreign Affairs of the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the UK, as well as the representative of the European Union high-level stress our serious concerns about China’s decision to enact the national security law in respect of Hong Kong", – the document says.

According to the signatories, this decision contradicts the basic law of Hong Kong and international commitments of the Beijing spelled out in the Sino-British joint Declaration.

"the Proposed national security law would constitute a serious danger to the principle of "one country, two systems" and a high degree of autonomy", – said in a statement.

The authors believe that the necessary open debate, consultation and "respect the protected rights and freedoms" of Hong Kong. They also expressed the view that China’s decision threatens the fundamental rights and freedoms of the entire population of Hong Kong.
