The European Union (EU) believes that the unilateral actions of the commander of the Libyan national army (LNA) Khalifa the Haftarot do not contribute to the settlement of the situation in the country, said the representative of the press service of the European Commission, Peter Stano.
Stano stated that “the unilateral action, even force, will not contribute to a lasting settlement in this country, such attempts are unacceptable”, RIA “Novosti”.
He stressed that the agreement concluded in December 2015 under the auspices of the UN, remains in force for the search for a political solution, and any changes can be taken only as a result of mezhliviysky dialogue.
The representative of the Commission stressed that while there was no alternatives for this agreement, because proposals for further settlement in Libya must be received within the current document.
“we Urge all actors and everyone who has influence on these parties to step up pressure to stop the fighting and began to search for a political solution. It is necessary for the country and its population”, – said Stano.
Recall that Haftar made an appeal, which called invalid Libyan political agreement, and declared himself head of state.
In Moscow said that the actions of the head of the LNA surprising. The Kremlin has expressed confidence that the only possible solution in Libya is a political and diplomatic communication all parties to the conflict.
Arabist Vyacheslav Matuzov said in comments the newspaper VIEW that the Haftarot are unlikely to take power by force.
