The daughter eks-the President of Uzbekistan Gulnara Karimov was sentenced to 13 years in prison for a third criminal case

a Court in Tashkent sentenced the daughter of the former President of Uzbekistan Gulnara Karimov to 13 years and four months in prison. She was found guilty of forming a criminal group, extortion and money laundering. The term of punishment shall be calculated from August 2015.

In 2015, during the life of the first President Islam Karimov, his daughter was sentenced to five years in prison. The court then found her guilty of assisting a criminal group, extortion, embezzlement, and tax evasion. The Prosecutor General’s office of the country reported about the decision only two years later.

In 2017 Karimov was sentenced to ten years imprisonment, but later the court changed the sentence to restriction of liberty for five years, allowing them to serve their sentences at home. In March of 2019, the penalty was increased. Due to violations of the conditions of arrest, the court decided to transfer Karimov in the colony of General regime.

Daughter Gulnara Karimova has reported in the media that five of the lawyers her mother was forced to sign a non-disclosure document the case.
