The Crimea is proposed to discuss in the channel format

the leader of the banned in Russia organization “the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people,” Refat Chubarov urged the participants in the “Norman format” level of foreign Ministers, scheduled for Thursday, April 30, to discuss the situation with human rights in Crimea. About this he wrote on his page on Facebook.

In his opinion, necessary “in terms of repression, increasing towards the Crimean Tatars and ethnic Ukrainians (…), categorical denials of Russian invaders in the liberation of the Crimean political prisoners, as well as categorical statements of official representatives of the Russian Federation that, they say, “the question of supplies of Crimea is closed””.

Chubarov believes that the ban of the organization “the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people” is a criminal act, “aimed at the suppression of the will and unity of the indigenous people of Crimea, who openly opposed the Russian invasion.”

He accused Russia in violation of international law and stated that members of the “Majlis” are persecuted. In this regard, Chubarov called on the international community to strengthen sanctions “to restore the state sovereignty of Ukraine over Crimea and the adjacent waters of the Black and Azov seas”.

Crimea became part of Russia in 2014, after a referendum in which the majority of respondents supported this decision. Ukraine considers the territory annexed and accuses Moscow of violating the rights of the Crimean Tatars. Russian authorities deny these charges.
