Rospotrebnadzor recommends to minimize the use of alcohol in conditions of restrictions due to pandemic coronavirus. This is stated in the message published on the Agency’s website.

Fear and misinformation have fueled a dangerous myth that drinking alcoholic beverages with high alcohol content can kill the virus that causes COVID-19. But it is not. Alcohol on the contrary increases the vulnerability of people in front of the coronavirus causing a negative impact on the immune system.

Experts remind that the consumption of any alcoholic beverages harm the body, increases the risk of injuries and violence and alcohol (ethanol) can lead to serious health consequences, including death. Therefore, CPS are encouraged to limit the use of alcohol in any situation, especially in a pandemic coronavirus.

the Agency also notes that each year alcohol causes the death of three million people throughout the world.
