The Central Bank has allowed banks and insurers to accept expired passports

In agreements with new customers financial institutions have to include the condition that the new passport will be filed no later than 30 September, says in an information letter from the Chairman of the Bank of Russia Dmitry Skobelkin.

This will allow to avoid situations when people would have to violate the isolation to design new documents just for the sake of obtaining financial services.

Earlier, the interior Ministry decided at the time of a pandemic not to punish citizens with expired passports and driver’s licenses.
