Celebrating one of the most revered shrines of Belarus, the Zhirovichi Mother of God icon, which is the same as in may of this year with the 500th anniversary of the Holy Dormition monastery in Grodno region, postponed to a later date. A notice about this appeared on the portal of the Belarusian Orthodox Church (BOC).
“In 2020, the Belarusian Orthodox Church says landmark for the history of Orthodoxy in Belarusian lands jubilee dates: the 550th anniversary since Zhirovichi icon of Mother of God, 500 years of its wonderful re-discovery and the 500th anniversary since the founding of the Dormition Zhirovichi monastery of, – told the BOC. The main Church and society anniversary events planned for 19 and 20 may at the Dormition stauropegial monastery in the agro-town of Zhirovichi. In connection with epigastralgia decided to postpone a memorial event at a later time.”
