The capital of South Ossetia will temporarily return the name of Staliniri

the President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov is temporarily returned to the South Ossetian capital Tskhinvali, the old name of Staliniri. The corresponding decree published on the website of the President of the Republic.

Specifies that the name of Staliniri will be used along with the name of Tskhinvali during the events dedicated to the Victory Day (9 may) and the first Day of the war (June 22).

Earlier, the authorities of the self-proclaimed Luhansk national Republic (LNR) has allowed three days a year to use the old name of the city Lugansk, Voroshilovgrad.

this decree was signed and the self-proclaimed head of the Donetsk national Republic (DND) Denis Pushilin. Pushilin decided to set the name of the “city of Stalin” as a symbol of Donetsk and use it during events related to memorable dates of the great Patriotic war.

the Capital of South Ossetia bore the name of Staliniri (or Staliniri) from 1934 to 1961, when the city regained its historical name of Tskhinvali during the campaign against the cult of personality of Joseph Stalin.
