Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin congratulated on the 85th anniversary of people’s artist of Russia Vasily Livanov on his page in the social network “Instagram”.

Vasily Livanov was born July 19, 1935 in the family of people’s artist of the USSR Boris Livanov. In 1954 he graduated from the Moscow secondary art school at the Academy of arts of the USSR in 1958 — Theater school named after Boris Shchukin, in 1966 — advanced directing courses at the USSR state Committee for cinematography.

In the years 1966-1973 Vasily Borisovich was the Director of the film Studio “Soyuzmultfilm”. He announced about 300 cartoon characters, including Carlson, crocodile Gena, and the Boa from a cartoon film “38 parrots”. Together with Yuri Antonym and Gennady Gladkov Livanov has created scripts for the cartoon “the Bremen town musicians” and “traces of the Bremen musicians”.

Vasily Livanov starred in more than 40 films. Best known for the role of Sherlock Holmes in a series of films directed by Igor Maslennikov based on works by Arthur Conan Doyle. In 1988, Vasily Livanov was awarded the title of people’s artist of the RSFSR. In 2006, the British Ambassador to Russia handed the actor the order of the British Empire “For services to the theatre and fine arts.”
