The police laid down their shields and left the administration building in the city of Svetlogorsk in the Gomel region after prolonged protests by residents, the newspaper reports NEXTA in his Telegram channel.

According to witnesses, the demonstrators were met the decision of security forces with applause. The protesters still did not disperse, however, and do not try to enter the administration building.

Election of the President of Belarus passed on August 9. After the polls closed in several cities of the country began protests against electoral fraud, in which police used against the demonstrators with tear gas, stun grenades and rubber bullets.
