Satellites have shown how the blooms of the North sea photo

Spring comes not only for plants and animals on land and phytoplankton — tiny photosynthetic organisms in the seas and oceans.

NASA Satellites Terra and Aqua have shown how intensified the phytoplankton in the shallow shelf of the North sea.

the lands near the coast of Northern Europe and the UK seem to be particularly bright. This is a place of river water discharge, which provide phytoplankton for nutrients.

Areas far away from the mainland are relatively cleaner. This does not necessarily mean the absence of phytoplankton. In these places the water may be mixed well to strong currents.
