New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara, was arrested and charged with battery resulting in substantial bodily injury on Sunday according to a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department release.

According to the release, Las Vegas PD officers responded to a call from Darnell Greene reporting that he had been battered in a club on the 3500 block South Las Vegas Blvd. The release said that detectives from Las Vegas MPD concluded that the victim had been battered by Alvin Kamara.

Kamara, 26, was taken into custody and taken to Clark County Detention Center. He was charged with battery resulting in substantial bodily injury, which is considered a felony. The investigation continues. According to court records, Kamara posted bond Monday morning at 8:30 a.m. A court date was set to March 8.

According to a Las Vegas police investigation, Greene said that he was waiting at an elevator with a group that included Kamara at The Cromwell Las Vegas Hotel & Casino around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday morning. Kamara allegedly placed his hand on Greene’s chest when the elevator doors opened. This reportedly stopped him from getting into the elevator. Greene claimed that Kamara pushed his hand against Greene’s chest, causing him to fall. Greene claimed that he was punched and kicked multiple times by others and then lost consciousness. Kamara was one of the batterers, Greene said.

According to the police report, surveillance video was obtained which confirms Greene’s story. According to the report, video shows Greene being attacked and beaten by four men, including Kamara.

According to the police report, Greene suffered an orbital fracture in his right eye. He may require surgery.

Kamara was a participant in the Pro Bowl. She caught four passes for 23 yards at Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas. Police interviewed Kamara in the stadium after the game. According to the police report, Kamara said that he had thrown a few punches but couldn’t recall if he punched Greene. Kamara said that he believed Greene was running away from him and that he had done something to his friends. According to the report, however, video disputes that Greene ran away.

Kamara was a five-time Pro Bowl pick. He had 898 yards running, 439 yards receiving, and nine total touchdowns during the 2021 season. The Saints selected him in round three of the 2017 NFL Draft.
