“the Story of the book is quite simple, – said the author. Eleven years I made films about the Russian Museum. They are a half-hour, there are more than two hundred stories about the artists, paintings, palaces. It was a marathon. Seven days a week. Wherever we went?! For example, the film for the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Russian Museum was shot on the very top of the Mikhailovsky castle, which was “in the woods”. Traveled along the Volga, in repinski was in France and Italy. Filmed in different parts of the Museum collections and restoration workshops”.
And then there was the book. The title of the book “Simple stories” Vladimir Gusev explains: “I did these films myself. Perhaps they are somewhat superficial, there’s no deep research, a sensational historical discoveries. It is, rather, impressions of a visitor who inadvertantly turned into the Museum and stayed there for a long time. All these are my own discoveries, which I share. Movies and stories in the book are not bound by strict chronology, but these simple stories about our congregation and the lives of the Russian Museum”.
