“Working for six months side by side with Italian colleagues in the most contaminated areas, risking their own health, our dedicated professionals have saved lives, showing resilience in countering a large-scale threat of coronavirus. They are honest and professional, have done your duty. During the time spent in Italy our military medical contingent in a field hospital of Bergamo accepted for the treatment of 112 people, drawn 75 of them. Specialists chemical protection conducted a sanitary processing of the 114 nursing homes, disinfected 1,131 million sqm of premises, more than 420 thousand square meters of open areas and roads. This selfless assistance in full compliance with the spirit have deep historical roots of Russian-Italian relations based on mutual respect, admiration, and cultural and spiritual closeness of the peoples of the two countries. Willingness to support each other in difficult times without any conditions is a characteristic feature of relations between Moscow and Rome,” – said on the occasion of the completion of the Russian humanitarian mission in the Apennines, the Russian Ambassador in Italy Sergey Razov.
“I want to sincerely thank all those present, as well as Russian doctors and nurses who took part in this mission. You came to us in one of the most difficult over the last 80 years moments for the region of Lombardy and of the province of Bergamo. During this period we experienced a situation that never encountered. You have given us specific help and given the opportunity for our physicians, working for two months tirelessly breathe a little. Thank you for this! In addition to practical assistance, you have demonstrated to us their friendship and solidarity, through which we understand in this difficult moment that we are not alone.
