Russia opens the border with Abkhazia on 1 August, the decision was made following a meeting of the operational headquarters for the prevention of introduction and spread of novel coronavirus infection in Russia. This was announced by the Secretariat of Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Golikova.
“following the meeting adopted a decision to open August 1, 2020 the state border of the Russian Federation with the Republic of Abkhazia”, — stated in the message.
It is noted that the decision was made based on the findings of Rospotrebnadzor and Ministry of health of Russia on the assessment of the sanitary and epidemiological situation in Abkhazia and determine the willingness of the Abkhaz infrastructure to receive tourists. Operational headquarters is now considering the issue of expanding the list of countries which can be resumed international flights. Information about the decisions taken will be reported separately.
In connection with the pandemic coronavirus from April 9 on the border of Abkhazia with Russia acted restrictions on entry into the country, imposed to prevent the spread of infection. On 20 July, the Association of tour operators of Russia (ATOR) with reference to the recommendations of the sanitary-epidemiological service of Abkhazia reported that the reception of tourists in the country after the lifting of restrictions on entry will be made only if there is a certificate with a negative test for the coronavirus. It needs to be completed 3 days prior to entry.
