Russia informed the United Nations on the termination of cooperation through the system deconflicting in Syria. It is reported TASS with reference to the Deputy UN Secretary-General for humanitarian Affairs Mark Lococo.
During the meeting of the UN security Council on Syria Lawcock said on June 23, Russia informed the UN to suspend participation in the system of humanitarian warnings.
The diplomat promised to discuss this issue with Russian representatives and humanitarian partners of the UN in Syria.
“the purpose of the warnings is to ensure the safety of humanitarian aid by informing the parties to the conflict about the whereabouts of objects or movements,” said Lowcock.
He recalled that regardless of participation in the program deconflicting parties to the conflict must comply with international humanitarian law.
US Ambassador to the UN, Kelly Kraft, said that she was “shocked” by Russia’s refusal from participation in the mechanism deconflicting. According to her, Russia “has compromised millions of lives in the North-West of Syria and created an obstacle to the delivery of UN assistance in this area”.
As reported by “the Rambler”, the Russian side has repeatedly criticized the system deconflicting. Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia said that included in the list of humanitarian objects are really used by terrorists.
