The international space station (ISS) will work in orbit till 2030, said the head of state Corporation “Rosatom” Dmitry Rogozin in the air YouTube channel “Soloviev LIVE”.
“the ISS is seven, well, maybe ten more years of existence. Still results in fatigue design, fatigue of metal,” he said, noting that Russia has already started construction of a new orbital station.
According to Rogozin, the reserve already has two modules. One of them is the hub, and the other energy, which will provide a new station powered.
“We plan to build some more modules,” he said.
In addition, the new station will be the headquarters for the whole orbital group of countries, said Rogozin.
“That is, the station itself will be able to provide supervision and other important functions,” he explained.
May 25, Rogozin said that it is not yet clear, the new station will be international or national. However, he stated the need for a new station, as the ISS will use another 7-10 years.
