As noted in an interview to “KP” the representative of the Moscow Patriarchate, Vladimir Legoyda made to the Russian Constitution the amendment that mentions faith in God, can not offend the feelings of atheists, because it’s just “a statement of fact that the ancestors have handed down to us of the Orthodox faith.”

“How this amendment might offend atheists? It’s a statement of fact that we have received from our ancestors a faith in God. Because the existence of atheists does not offend the believers. An atheist may think that the believer is mistaken, but the existence of the believer does not insult an atheist”, — said Legoyda.

the new article of the Constitution States that “the Russian Federation, United by a thousand-year history, preserving the memory of ancestors who have conveyed to us the ideals and faith in God, and also the continuity in the development of the Russian state, recognizes the historically established state unity”.
