ROC called the ban on visits to churches unconstitutional

Hegumeness Kseniya said that the act adopted in the cultural capital, is unconstitutional. According to her, the basic law of the right to freedom of conscience inalienable rights of man and of the citizen. The representative of the Russian Orthodox Church noted that its limit can only Federal law, not the act of a subject of Russia, reports “Interfax”.

Hegumeness Kseniya was told that the Church has no plans to challenge the authorities of St. Petersburg. The decision of the management of cultural capital, in her opinion, is not the Church, and the citizens and their rights.

Thursday, March 26, the authorities of St. Petersburg banned the visit of religious organizations in the period from 28 March to 5 April. This measure is related to the threat of the spread of coronavirus COVID-19.
